Dear Perry Family,
I am sorry I didn't know Cheryl prior to her illness, however, the one day I did meet her, I could tell she was once full of life. I could also see how much her husband adored her and how much she was loved. Cancer is a beast. It reduces one to a shell of what they once were. However, it cannot take away your soul, and I could see she was in there, ready to face the eternal life ahead of her. She will always be young and beautiful. To the family...I'm sorry for your loss. I am always grateful for those I get to meet, even if it was a few minutes. I hope she and your family had a good hospice experience and that she was comfortable in her transition. Take care of yourselves. She will be just fine in the arms of our Lord.

Cheryl was a beautiful strong woman. I met her when she came to Penn for treatment and it was an honor to meet her and care for her. When I think of her, I feel love and dignity and grace, intelligence and strength. How wonderful to know she was surrounded by so many devoted friends and loved ones. What can I say about the woman who was my best friend for 50 plus years. It is a rarity that the person you met in eighth grade math class was still a part of your life 50 some years later. But, she was and still my best friend. We talked on the phone every day we would laugh about stupid stuff, have serious conversations about life and just discuss our day. She was also kind enough to have her son Blake on my birthday and giving me the honor of being Jordan’s Godmother. She was a wonderful mother and she and Al raised three great kids who were along with Al and the grandsons her world. She was wonderful mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. I will miss her more than I can say and I cherish all my wonderful memories I have of my very special and wonderful best friend.

Webster’s dictionary defines the word wonderful as “inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration; extremely good; marvelous.” These are all the things I felt and knew about my friend, Cheryl. From the moment we met, I witnessed how her presence alone inspired delight and lit up the room. How her laughter and the joy she found in the simple things in life were a sheer pleasure to witness; how much I admired her unconditional kindness, acceptance, and love; How extremely good she made me feel every time I got to speak to her. But most importantly, I remember how she allowed me to become part of her marvelous family. For these reasons, Cheryl was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known.

Dear Cheryl / Mom / Grandmom,
You were the kindest and most loving soul I've ever met. I had the honor of knowing you for more than half of my life. You were always so warm and welcoming towards me since day one. You always laughed at my jokes even though most of the time they weren't funny.
This is an immeasurable loss for family & friends. Meals, family gatherings, parades, baseball games, carnivals will never be the same. Eight years of you being a loving grandmom was not enough time. Your whole world centered around your grandchildren. You spoiled and loved them unconditionally. During those eight years you taught them many skills with the most important to be kind and loving.
We will ALWAYS remember you for your beauty, kindness, and STRENGHT. We will NEVER forget. I hope our souls cross paths again some day. Until then, please watch over all of us. I love and miss you so much.
