Obituary of Nancy A. Krier
Nancy A. Krier "Big Nance"
July 28, 1951 - August 25, 2022
We are sad to announce the passing of our precious and beloved mom, Nancy Krier at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded and held by her four daughters in her last moments. Several years ago, Nancy survived a battle with breast cancer. When cancer came a second time, she fought like the survivor she was, but this time it was not meant to be. She was truly the most wonderful, loving, caring and hard working mother we could have asked for.
Nancy was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia in the Wissahickon neighborhood and leaves behind a lifetime of friends and family. She was a 1965 graduate of St. John the Baptist School and a 1969 graduate of John W. Hallahan High School. A short time after, she married and began her family. Nancy raised four amazing daughters while also working for 25 years at Roxborough Hospital in the Radiology Department. She also worked for several years as a medical secretary for Dr. Hager's office. She was an extremely dedicated mom and employee walking daily to and from work rain or shine. Working fulltime and raising her four daughters, she always made time to volunteer for school trips, bake sales, fundraising events, and sports and cheerleading teams. Wherever she was needed, she was there.
Nancy loved her girls and often cared for many of the neighborhood children as well. One of Nancy's favorite places to visit was Brigantine Beach. She spent her childhood summers there with family and went on to share this joy with her own daughters. Together they have shared laughs, jokes, good food and memories "down the shore." You could always find her sitting on her front porch performing her neighborhood watch. She loved bringing the grandkids crabbing and fishing, and for walks 'back the crick.' In her younger days she spent many hours knitting, crafting and sewing her daughters' matching holiday vests and jams. She loved being outside tending her flowers and feeding the birds. And she of course loved her Facebook, from which she did not post a negative word; only positive and complimentary notes and photos to friends and family.
Known lovingly as "Big Nance," mom, or Nana, she is survived by her four daughters: Nancy (Collins) Bean and husband Charles; Lauren Collins and Joshua Carson; Meghan (Collins) Dougherty and husband Timothy; Julie Collins and Benjamin Franczyk; siblings Marie (Krier) Brotschul and her husband Michael; JoeMike Krier and wife Sabine; and Steve Krier and wife Kathleen.
She was loved and adored by her 11 grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy, Emma, Curtis, Delanie, Aubrey, Kendra, Mason, Benjamin, Sullivan, Nora and great granddaughter Vayda, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to join us in a Celebration of Life Ceremony for Nancy on Saturday February 25th at 10am at The Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, located at 425 Lyceum Ave, Philadelphia, PA, followed by a service at 11am. A private family gathering will be held afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,, Memphis, TN 38105, in her name.
